Why is HSV 1 & 2 not routinely tested?

Hi, I was wondering why is not routinely tested considering if one does find out they are positive (many don't think they have it because alot don't show symptoms) then it is the responsibility to tell their future partners once they know. Because of the social embarrment it can be really depressing. Wouldn't there be less if they at least added it to the main STD testing? Lastly for a bonus question, can over time deteriorate an infected person's immune system or decrease longevity?
