Mormons, how do you succeed so well at instilling good family values to your children?

I grew up with a Mormon family and I realized that constant communication and consistency were established early and often. When being punished the punishments were followed all the way to the end as well as chores and daily routines. The unfotrunate household rules that only seemed to bother me were that television was not allowed in the house, nor alcohol, & newspapers (propaganda).
