2 baby garters in one cage????

i was wondering if i could have 2 garters in 1 cage??? i have an eastern garter (1 foot ) and i was wondering if i could put another one in (possibly diiferent species) it is a ten gallon tank and the snake is doing Great.. no problems (except he wont eat his pinky). is it okay, if not what would be okay
